Gemma was previously a pupil of the Kilkenny Academy of Dance and has worked there since 2008. She has also trained with and worked in the Bray School of Dance since 2007. On gaining her BA Honours Degree in Music and Mathematical Studies from NUIM in 2006, Gemma decided to return to her true love; dance.

Now, a graduate of Inchicore College, Gemma has undergone 3 years full time training in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Improvisation. During this time she has achieved her Diploma in Dance Education in Modern Theatre Dance through the I.S.T.D. She has also received Fetac qualifications in Dance Performance and Production, Kinesiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Occupational First Aid, Exercise and Fitness and Dance History. Gemma has also received her DDE in Imperial Ballet.

Gemma is a well known performer in Kilkenny, performing from a young age, in Musical theatre productions. As well as choreographing musicals in Kilkenny, Maynooth and Leixlip, Gemma has performed all over Ireland. She has worked with various groups, ranging from young children to adults, amateurs to professionals, working on such productions as Little Shop of Horrors, Chess, Westside Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Devious Theatre's 'Smitten', Kilkenny Pantomimes and Kilkenny Musical Society's Aims award winning ' Michael Collins - A Musical Drama'. Gemma also runs very successful Adult Ballet classes at Kilkenny Dance Studio.

Gemma has attended The Deborah Capon College of Dance, England, to further her training and had the honour of receiving a scholarship to visit Impulstanz Dance festival in Vienna where she had the opportunity to work with many internationally renowned choreographers. Gemma has worked as a Dance teacher for The Bray School of Dance and The Bray Institute of Further Education and managed the Kilkenny Academy of Dance before taking over her role as Director.

Gemma has worked in the Bunclody Academy of Dance since its opening in 2009, and has been the Principal of the Academy since 2011.
